If you’re planning to get married abroad, it’s crucial to gather all the necessary documents before you leave. Typically, you’ll need to obtain a Statement in Lieu of a Certificate of Non-Impediment to Marriage Abroad from Canadian authorities. Additionally, you will require a Statutory Declaration of your Marital Status, along with notarized copies of official documents such as your Birth Certificate, Driver’s License, and/or Passport. If you’re divorced, notarized copies of your Marriage Certificate, Divorce Certificate, and/or Divorce Order will likely be required. Furthermore, foreign authorities might demand that these notarized copies be authenticated and legalized by the relevant authorities before they can be accepted in the destination country.
